ESPEROS came to life shortly after its founder, Oliver Shuttlesworth, returned from a trip to Central America. After witnessing the debilitating effects of extreme poverty on children in those areas, he was inspired to find a sustainable solution that would equip children in the developing world with the tools needed to build a brighter future for themselves and their communities.
After months of brainstorming, fueled by what some might call an unhealthy amount of coffee, Oliver came up with what he thought was a sensible solution: ESPEROS would sell backpacks and other book bags, and help fund one year of education for a child in the developing world with every sale.
At ESPEROS, we believe that education is one of the fundamental pillars of human dignity and empowerment & we give our customers the unique opportunity to change the life of a child with their purchase.
WHAT DOES THE NAME MEAN?
The name ESPEROS comes loosely from the Spanish verb “esperar” which means “to hope.” When you make your purchase from ESPEROS, you do more than simply buy a bag: you carry hope.
